Letter Ee

Make way for the Eyebright Fairy. This week we learned about Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Electricity, the Eucharist and Embroidery. Here's a picture of Princess using her lacing cards.

And using a pattern for Saint Elizabeth of Hungary I made a cute doll for Princess from THIS blog. There's a few more patterns there for other saints. They are so, so, so sweet and I've been requested by both the older kiddos for more. Thanks to Charlotte for making me look like such a creative hero in my kiddos eyes! I promise I will add pictures when we fix our camera...

I saw those embroidered doll patterns myself and thought they were adorable! Now, if only I knew how to embroider... is it easy?

Erin,
It is so easy. Let me tell you, I graduated from the art of stick people, and it's a simple back stitch and that's it. You should try it. Your kids will love the dolls.

What kind of material did you use? Did you use embroidery floss to do the stitches? I'd love to see a photo if your camera will cooperate!

Erin,
I used embroidery floss and for the canvas, I picked up some remnant material I could see light through. I know other places recommend muslin material, but I did not have time to find any specifically for that. Then I picked up a material pencil to trace the saint template. It was inexpensive compared to some of the already made dolls and Princess enjoyed stitching with me. Well worth it if you ask me.
